Dwarf Stars

Dwarf Stars 2006, an anthology of science fiction, fantasy, and horror short poetry of 10 lines or less, contains both a cinquain by Ann K. Schwader and a mirror cinquain by Terrie Leigh Relf.

Dwarf Stars 2006 contains what I consider to be the best short short speculative poetry published in 2005.

Muertos Moon, a cinquain by Ann K. Schwader was first published in the Summer 2005 issue of World Haiku Review.

Another Goddess in the Sky, a mirror cinquain by Terrie Leigh Relf, was originally published in Astropoetica, Summer 2005.

Dwarf Stars 2006 contains 28 other excellent short poems – scifaiku, tanka, sijo, and short free verse by Duane Ackerson, Linda D. Addison, Greg Beatty, Guy Belleranti, Ruth Berman, Jennifer Crow, James S. Dorr, John J. Dunphy, Peg Duthie, Amal El-Mohtar, Robert Frazier, Jo Gerrard, Andre Dorian Gheorghe, Todd Hanks, Samantha Henderson, Tim Jamieson, Joanne Morcom, Karen L. Newman, oino sakai, Daniel C. Smith, W. Modern English Tanka cinquain submissions

Denis Garrison, the editor emeritus of Amaze: The Cinquain Journal, publishes Modern English Tanka (MET), a webzine of tanka which will consider cinquain as a "set form tanka."

As an example, I offer my cinquain ermine from Simply Haiku:

ermine
against her cheeks
naked before the fire--
a California girl unused
to snow

- Deborah P Kolodji
Simply Haiku, Summer 2006

A "set-form tanka" cinquains would be untitled, would contain a turn/pivot, and would be written in the "tanka spirit."

Michael L. Evans has nine cinquains in the current issue of MET, which are included on a page following three of his tanka.
